I am currently running a series of drawing workshops at my home and studios in Pakefield. All abilities are welcome but I can accommodate only adults and only five at any one session. The sessions take place on Monday evenings from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. The cost is £10 per session, payable half-termly in advance, following school half-terms as closely as possible. With six sessions in a half-term, the cost is £60 per person, per half-term.
My aim is to teach basic drawing the way I was taught at Camberwell, in the sixties. This is hard work but fun too. Good objective drawing is the basis for good painting and knowing how to "look" and how to "see" with the eye of an artist is, I believe, a skill that anyone can learn, given the willingness to learn. So dedication is required but as for physical materials, you will need only ordinary graphite pencils (B-9B) and an A4 sketch-book to get started. Further materials will be continually discussed and recommended, helping you add to your collection gradually.
The Monday Evening Group is a happy bunch of very keen students, providing an atmosphere of hard-working, friendly encouragement for all. There is room for two more on that evening but as demand grows, we could extend into another evening. In the summer months, weekend workshops may be a possibility too.
